                  River lullaby

"Where am I?" Sonic though as he looked around and saw many clouds with the color gold and he seemed to be on a baby crib. Sonic opened his mouth to say something but he couldn't speak he was making baby noises. "Why am I speaking like a baby?" Sonic thought, a hedgehog with purple hedgehog fur and long hair was gazing at him, "Your awake honey and did you have sweet dreams?" the hedgehog asked, Sonic saw the female hedgehog had his emerald eyes, "Who are you?" Sonic tried to say but every time he opened his mouth he could only make noises. "Oh I know you are a big boy so you can wake up whenever you want to" the female hedgehog giggled and grabbed Sonic holding him in her arms, but Sonic had a strange feeling he knew this woman, she dress of a white dress with transparent sleeves she held Sonic close to her chest, "My little baby" she said.

Sonic started to open his eyes he facing down and Sonic was almost on top of him, "Hmm Shadow?" Sonic said as Shadow had his head on his shoulder. Shadow open his eyes only half and looked at Sonic, he got off and stretch a little. Sonic sat up from the bed, "I had such a strange dream" said Sonic. Shadow sat up and gaze at him confused, "About what? Want to talk about it?" Shadow asked. "Well I don't know but I seemed to have been a baby during the entire time and saw this female purple hedgehog, she seemed to have been my mother but I don't know if she truly was. I don't remember much about her, I have never seen her before" said Sonic, Shadow ears twitch "Was she really my mother?" Sonic asked. "I don't know Sonic your the one with the dreams I don't know much about those things" said Shadow, ".... Did you ever had a mother and father?" Sonic asked, "Just a father ... His name was Black Doom he cared for both me and my brother, I can only remember that from when we were babies" said Shadow, "You have a strong memory" said Sonic. "Yeah but I don't know what happen" said Shadow, "Well at least you remember a important detail" said Sonic he smiled a little and kiss Shadow's cheek. "Come on we should go get something to eat" said Sonic as he got up from the bed leaving a thoughtful Shadow. Sonic went downstairs and saw Knuckles at the table with little baby Chloe, she had a pacifier and was wearing sleeping clothes. She was putting her hands on the table and then started to slam them on the table, "Morning Knuckles I see you and Chloe are up early" said Sonic, "Yeah I'm just waiting for Rouge to finish, she is going to bring me some breakfast" said Knuckles. Sonic sat next to Knuckles and put his finger on Chloe's arm, she looked over at Sonic's finger and grabbed with her hands the started to play with all Sonic's fingers as she laid back on Knuckles. "Morning Sonic" said Rouge going in the kitchen she had two plates of food and gave one to Knuckles and another to Sonic, "I had a feeling you all were going to wake up soon so I made a plate for everyone" said Rouge. "Thank you Rouge that was very thoughtful of you" said Sonic, "No problem sweet heart by the way Sonic would you help give Chloe a bath later?" Rouge asked, "Sure" said Sonic. Shadow came to the kitchen and sat down next to Sonic, "Morning Shadow" said Rouge, "Morning" said Shadow. After a moment Rouge gave him a plate with food, "Thank you can I have the thing you call coffee?" Shadow asked, "Of course" said Rouge as she went to prepare some. Sonic went to her, "Hey Rouge can I speak with you?" Sonic asked. "Sure honey what's on your mind?" Rouge asked, "Well have you ever dream about your mom before?" Sonic asked, "Oh yes most of the time when I dream of her it's because she's missing me or I am missing her" said Rouge. "Well I had a odd dream last night, I think I was a baby and this female hedgehog appeared she held and said she was my mom" said Sonic, "So was she?" Rouge asked, "I don't know I never meet my mother before" said Sonic, "Ohh that's so sad" said Rouge lowering her ears. "It is?" Sonic asked, "Yes Sonic a love of a mother is not the love you can find anywhere, I know if something would have happen to Chloe that I would have lost her. I would go... Crazy that little girl is the light of my eyes and the proof of love between me and my Knuckie" said Rouge looking over at them Knuckles was giving a little piece of eggs to Chloe so she could eat with him. "So does this mean my mother is missing me?" Sonic asked, "I don't know probably, do you know where she could at least be?" Rouge asked, "In Olympus but I don't know if I can return back there yet" said Sonic. "Maybe you can try and figure out, maybe you can finally meet your mother after so many years" said Rouge. "I know someone that might help me with that, thanks Rouge" said Sonic, "Okay then come on I will give Shadow his coffee so we can give Chloe a bath" said Rouge.

They were in the bathroom, Chloe was in her little baby tub, she was laughing as she loved to take a bath. Rouge was washing her quills, "So Rouge when did you and Knuckles decided to make a stable relationship, I was no Aphrodite to say you two were going to end up together" said Sonic laughing a little. "Well it all actually happen in the night of my birthday, Knuckles confess to me he loved and wanted to go out with me and so before you know it we got married and then we wanted to start a little family and that is where Chloe stepped in" said Rouge. Chloe laugh looking at her mother. "That's a sweet story" said Sonic grabbing the towel and grabbed Chloe drying her off. "Yes I don't regret anything being a mother is not easy, I have to feet Chloe, change her every now and then, giver her a bath make sure she takes a nap. But being a mother is a wonderful stage in life, I agree with that right my little butterfly?" Rouge asked making funny faces to Chloe. Chloe laugh allot and stretched her hands at Rouge, Rouge grabbed her and went to the room to fetch a clean diaper and some clothes. "And how is Knuckles with Chloe?" Sonic asked, "Knuckles is a great father he helps me feed her and he loves to play with his little girl" said Rouge, Chloe grabbed her feet looking at Rouge making cute noises. Rouge blew in her belly making her laugh more, and then grabbed her. "Well you seem to be a natural at this" said Sonic, "Well now I'm use to it but at first it was frustrating I even called my mom to help me" said Rouge. "I guess she was a good mother" said Sonic, "Greatest one I ever had" said Rouge. Both Rouge and Sonic went outside where they saw Knuckles and Shadow training with each other. "I'm impress you manage to get as fast as I am" said Shadow, "Yeah well the training in GUN keeps me intense" said Knuckles as he was about to punch Shadow but Shadow moved away still got a little cute on his cheek but wipe the blood away and smirked. "Well some people seem motivated this morning just for a fight" said Fleetway sitting on a big rock, "Hey Fleetway why not train with me after all I want to give you a repay for yesterdays fight" said Knuckles. "Don't you still need to recover from your broken bones?" Fleetway asked, "Look who's talking" Knuckles crossed his arms. "Those were just lucky punches besides there is no need for us to fight now I'm a good guy" said Fleetway, "Yeah then it's better that way we can have a friendly battle" said Knuckles. "Say Fleetway what made you change your mind?" Sonic asked, "Well your answer is right beyond that window" said Fleetway as he was looking up at Silver. "So beautiful and I even got a good view of his @$$!" said Fleetway chuckling, Sonic just stare at him thoughtful. "By the way what are we going to do now?, I mean this was over before we knew it" said Knuckles. "Well I think I'm heading over to the cave to speak with Shade, Shadow you coming with me?" Sonic asked, Shadow nod. "Well we will be here waiting for you, but before you leave please take this with you" said Rouge throwing a phone to Sonic. Sonic grabbed it, "Is this a phone?" Sonic asked, "Very good Sonic looks like you two been learning this 3 years" said Knuckles, "Just call us in case you need anything" said Rouge. Sonic nod, "Okay bye bye" said Sonic waving goodbye at them, "Dy dy" Chloe started to wave her hand imitating Sonic.

Shadow and Sonic then flew away leaving their friends behind, "So I guess you have something on your mind if you want to go to Shade" said Shadow. "Yes maybe he can help me with my questions" said Sonic, they flew over and they knew they were going to take a while but Sonic didn't mind. Yet they both notice how the season was already changing it was not just fall it was turning to winter as the breeze felt colder and the leaves were already falling. "I seance winter is approaching" said Sonic, "I know we might want to speed up" said Shadow. They both had a boost and flew over a little bit faster, but just half way they stopped for a little snack, Sonic sat on the tree branch and touched the tree making two big apples appear and gave one to Shadow. Shadow sat not too far from him, "Say Sonic don't you think it's weird?" Shadow asked, "About what?" Sonic recalled as he didn't understand. "It's about Shade he never turned a fight down before but he turned down the one with Fleetway, and he acts more different than before" said Shadow, "People can change Shadow" said Sonic taking a bite of his apple. "If I knew better I said something is up" said Shadow as he took a bite of the apple. Then they continue and fly away heading to the cave, "Okay we are not too far now" said Shadow. "Good I can't wait to see Shade I'm use to see him all the time it feels weird to not see him all this time" said Sonic. "I'm sure he is crazy to see you" said Shadow, "Yeah!" Sonic said exited then they landed in front of the cave. "Shade!" Sonic called as he went inside and looked around, "Shade!" Sonic called again. Shadow went inside the cave and slowly gaze around and saw the cave was empty. "Shade is not here I don't seance him" said Shadow, "But Shade is always here, where is he?" asked Sonic. "I don't know he just left" said Shadow, "The person you are looking for is long gone" said Zeus, "Zeus!" Sonic was surprise to see him. "Where is Shade?" Sonic asked, "Shade is not here he just left to complete my task" said Zeus, "Really where is he?" Sonic asked, "He is in far place  he is in the Mountains where snow comes heavily" said Zeus, "But why didn't he tell us?" Sonic asked, "He rather not let you two get involved he prefers to work alone" said Zeus, Shadow got mad by that last thing, "Then who needs him" said Shadow. "Now Shadow don't let your anger take over you" said Zeus, "I just wanted to ask you about something Zeus" said Sonic, "Yes Sonic I know it's about your dream... You dream with your mother" said Zeus, "Yes I wanted to know who is she and what was that dream all about?" Sonic asked.

"I am willing to explain everything Sonic, you see years ago I have a vision about you tree. When I had the vision I saw unwanted things, so I wanted to make some changes to prevent things from happening" explained Zeus, "What did you do?" Sonic asked, "I took each one of you away from your parents to keep you safe, it was a choice that hurt your parents allot but it was the best one they could do. Sonic your mother was called Aleena she was the Goddess of hope that woman loved you more than anything in her world" said Zeus. "So she was the same hedgehog I saw in my dream?" Sonic asked, "Yes the same one" said Zeus. Sonic thought about her and he felt overwhelming to know about his mother, "And... And when can I see her?" Sonic asked, "Sadly not yet" said Zeus, Sonic's smile quickly disappear "Why?" He asked lowly. "You can not all return to Olympis just yet" said Zeus, "What?!" Shadow asked. "You think you might have stopped Hades by making Fleetway change is mind, well it's not just that, Hades has been waiting all this years for his plan. In five years Hades will release the 7 demons of destruction. Knuckles had encounter the demon called Nightclaw and he defeated Knuckles with not so much difficulty" said Zeus, "Then what are we waiting for we must attack that demon" said Shadow, "No Shadow you will not attack none of the following demons, I'm afraid you all are too weak the only way to defeat them is by reaching your god form" said Zeus."But aren't we already gods?" Shadow asked mad, "No Shadow when you, Sonic, and Shade were send here you all came as mortals representing god powers, every god is like that" said Zeus. "Then how do we reach our god forms?" Shadow asked, "You must earn your god form by doing things that gods can only do" said Zeus. "Things like what?" Sonic asked curiously, "Help the souls in need, the ones who suffer, cry, and are disturbed. Like what you did to Tikal in the Effiel tower years ago, she was a broken angel who needed her wings and you two helped her regain her wings" said Zeus. "Oh so we must help other people, I can do that" said Sonic, "I know you can, by doing that and keeping the mortals safe you might reach your god form it is only up to me and depends on your actions" said Zeus. Sonic and Shadow nod, "But still I think somewhere near the mountain you can find a small village you both can head there that Village needs your help" said Zeus. "A village in the mountain, hmmm alright we will be willing to go right Shadow?" Sonic asked him sweetly, Shadow nod. They both got out of the cave and flew away, "Hmph! Prefers to work alone, in that case Shade if you don't want us to help be my guest and leave as far away as you want cause I will not look for you again" said Shadow. Sonic notice something was bothering Shadow but decided to not ask him just yet, "So now that we are on the way how many of this things do we have to do to reach our god form?" Sonic asked. "I can't answer you that Sonic, I didn't knew about this god form but it must be serious, I am not the one to tell but I believe that the demons of Hades must be very strong if Zeus wants us to reach our god form" said Shadow. "My question is if 5 years is enough to get ready?" Sonic asked, "If in three we manage to get as strong as Fleetway in 5 years we will be stronger. Plus we have no time to waist it's noon and we must quickly head over to the village" said Shadow making a boost disappearing since it was so far, Sonic then made a boost as well to catch up they were going very fast so it didn't took time till they landed on the village.

Sonic and Shadow gaze upon the village that seemed no one was around. "Amazing" said a blue cat, "You can fly but your just hedgehog" he said. "Huh? Hello there I'm Sonic god of dreams" said Sonic approaching the cat, "A god? What?" He was confused, "It's a long story" said Sonic, "Explain it to us when we go at the middle building of the forest where the rest are" said the cat. Sonic explained everything in the building, "So you were send here by Zeus what a pleasure to meet such great gods" said the chief. "Yeah he told us this village has been having trouble can I ask what it is?" Sonic asked. "Well for some time strange things at night have been disturbing the villagers" said the chief. "Oh so what kind of things have been happening here?" Sonic asked, "Well a strange creature have been coming to this village every night. It is something so horrible it was seen by the villagers a creature very thin like it hasn't eating in years, and with rotten skin that all you can see it's skeleton most of the time and those black eyes" said the chief, "It sounds like a supernatural thing if you ask me" said Shadow, "Supernatural?" Sonic asked, "Yeah it's when someone or something dies and they stay in this world and are able to hurt people, scare them" said Shadow. "Ohhh we can help after all Zeus did send us here" said Sonic. "You will help us? Well I will appreciate if you can" said the chief, "Don't worry Shadow and I will go and make a little research" said Sonic, "I appreciate if you do and make yourself comfortable" said the chief. Sonic and Shadow got out of the little house the village was very cold it wouldn't take long till the snow started to fall. "I will check this side of the city while you check the other" said Sonic. "Sonic wait" Shadow grabbed his hand quickly, "I don't like the sound of that, I think it's best if you stay close to me" said Shadow, "Shadow I'll be okay" said Sonic. "I just don't like it seen you involve in this things, I hate to see you get hurt" said Shadow, Sonic smiled at him for his concern, "I'll be okay besides this thing doesn't appear but in night" said Sonic. Shadow grabbed his shoulder and give him a gentle kiss on the lips, "Be okay" said Shadow. "Okay then I will meet you later here okay" said Sonic, "But before sun down" said Shadow, Sonic giggled rolling his eyes, "Yes before the sun down" said Sonic. Then they finally split up, Sonic was checking on his side. He keep a close eyes on everything looking for side to side, he didn't saw anything weird. Everything seemed calm according to Sonic, he keep walking and saw allot of kids in front of a orphanage, Sonic was curious so many children left without a family. Sonic then continue to walk looking around but didn't saw anything "Hmm a disturbance? I wonder what kind of disturbance it is" Sonic asked as he had no idea what it could be after a few minutes it was already noon as the sun was setting and they meet up at the same place. "I haven't seen a sigh of a single thing" said Shadow, "Well I guess nothing is up we are going to have to wait till sun down" said Sonic. "You won't be able to find anything the creature doesn't appear at day" said the chief, "But isn't there anything you might have found ?a clue?" Shadow asked, "Well in the orphanage not far the woman who worked there can tell you a little more about this creature" said the chief.

Sonic and Shadow looked each other a little confused, "I don't understand how can Zeus send us to do something .. A task supernatural" said Sonic, "Zeus is just testing us, I'm certain it won't be long till we turn into gods" said Shadow, "You seem sure" said Sonic. "I am sure" Shadow said as he stop in front of the orphanage.
